If you’re not used to waking up early and getting your day started by moving your body, making it to a 6:00 am yoga class can definitely be a challenge. The benefits outweigh the difficulty by far, but when the alarm rings bright and early, that can be hard to keep in mind. Luckily, there are some tips to follow that can make waking up early a little bit easier.
- Prepare your things the night before. Many studios have shower facilities, so you could even attend the class, get ready, and head straight into the rest of your day. Make sure you get your mat, any props you might like, something to eat after class, and whatever else you need for after class ready before going to sleep.
- Set an intention before bed. Remind yourself of the reasons you want to wake up early in the morning. Spend a few moments in quiet meditation to allow the intention to settle in before drifting off.
- Speaking of going to sleep, try to get to bed a bit earlier. This also comes a bit easier over time. Once you get into the habit of waking up earlier, you will feel ready to sleep earlier and your sleep cycle will become more regulated naturally.
These tips may seem simple, but that is what makes them truly effective. There are no gimmicks, no complicated plans to follow. It is hard enough to wake up and move early, without adding in additional stressors. Enjoy your morning yoga 🙂
