There are many benefits to prenatal yoga, some of which are the same as general yoga benefits, and some of which are specific to prenatal yoga. Here are just a few:
- Take time to move your body in a way that helps relieve common pregnancy aches and pains
- Practice focusing on the present moment, and taking some time away from the planning and expectant state of pregnancy
- Stretch to create space for a growing baby
- Strengthen muscles of the hips and legs to help prepare for long labour
- Practice certain movements and positions that may be helpful during labour
- Spend time with other expectant mothers and find connections that can be maintained after babies are born
- Relaxation
- Better sleep
- More mobility
