Yoga Sequence for Upper Back and Shoulders

As we move into the holiday season, and you become busier with festive commitments, shopping and much more, don’t forget to take some time for yourself! It is so important to make sure that you are getting enough sleep, eating well, and taking some time for relaxation away from the hustle and bustle.

Whether you have tried yoga before or not, this is a great simple sequence that you can practice from the comfort of your own home to stretch and relax. All of these poses are safe during pregnancy and the postpartum period (provided your healthcare practitioner has not suggested abstaining from exercise for any reason).

For each position shown below, take a gentle approach to the stretch. Take your time to explore and find what feels like a comfortable stretch, with no feeling of forcing the body into anything. Each time you move into a new pose, stop to take a few slow breaths, notice how the stretch feels and how the breath feels, and then move on to the next.
